NOTES -

Commanding Officer -
This has been an unusual
month and its time we got
back on track and to the
business at hand.  We have
a lot of awesome events
planned, as well as some
work to do.  Some HEAVY
work.  I know we are all
capable and its definitely
time to step up and get to a
great summer, get earning
our operating income for the
year, and endure some hard
work and have some great
trainings and incentive
events and tours mixed in!
The Lilac Parade is a great
place for everyone to shine
and I expect everyone to
look their best!  This is why
I have called for inspection
on the 17th in blues.  SEE
YOU THERE~!

LTJG MORRIS, CO

Executive Officer-
I am quite concerned about
the participation this month
regarding the Poppy
Donation Fundraiser.  We
have limited personnel
contributing and this needs
to be fixed ASAP!  We will
discuss this on the 17th to
see if we can’t fix it.  There
is an incentive tour of the
airport slated for those who
participate.  This is a simple
way for us to raise money
for the unit and keep out of
pocket expenses to a
minimum.  The American
Legion has called on our
help and we need to give it
to them.  I DO know this;
this will not happen for
HOOPFEST!  All of us will be
participating!   Does it not
beat doing car washes every
other weekend?  We need to
work on this immediately!
- LTJG DAVIS - XO

Operations Officer -
There's no end to the
opportunities in the Sea
Cadets, but no one is able
(or expected) to do
everything that is offered.
Cadets and their families are
encouraged to carefully plan
and coordinate calendars,
set priorities, and
participate as much as
able.  The unit can't survive
without consistent
participation from all hands,
but that doesn't mean any
cadet needs to spend ALL
weekend at Hoopfest (for
example).  On the other
hand, we also anticipate
that all cadets would sign up
for a minimum of one
Hoopfest session, though we
know there will be a few
who can't do any.  We
encourage families to find
the best pace for their
cadet's involvement, a pace
that will promote consistent,
reliable participation and
prevent burnout.

As a reminder, the staff is
always ready to promote
cadet academic success
(school).  Cadet attendance
and participation in drill and
other events is a benefit to
the cadet, but the
participation of cadets is
also essential to the unit's
success.  Because the unit
needs the cadets
participating, the officers
and instructors offer study
time during drill, and other
services, to help cadets re-
establish academic
traction.  If a cadet is having
trouble with grades, we ask
that the cadet or parent
notify a staff member so
support can be provided at
drill.  This is far superior to
cadets missing drill and
events, which means the
missing cadet's obligations
need to be handled by
others.  Please talk to me or
other staff members if you
have questions about this.
- INST TURCOTT - OPS

Training Officer -
The summer trainings have
been posted.  Have a look
at  http://compass.seacadets.
org/ and communicate with
me as soon as possible -
you know the process -
follow your chain of
command.  It looks like a
GREAT set of opportunities
this summer.  Keep after the
coursework, earn the money
you need, and be ready!
- INST HILLMAN, TRAINING

Supply Officer -
Please ensure that if you
were awarded a ribbon or
appurtenance, that you come
see me to get it.  New
supplies are in and there
should be no reason any
cadet is missing a uniform
item or ribbon.  We will be
shifting to Summer Uniforms
at May and June Drill!  BE
READY!
- ENS HARVEY - SUPPLY
